Cristian Alberto González Perret, better known as Kily, played his last official game in a Valencia CF shirt on the 15th of June 2003 in a 1-3 defeat at home to FC Barcelona. Kily featured for 78 minutes in what was his final game for Valencia CF before making a move to Inter Milan in the 2003 summer transfer window.
Kily made his Valencia CF debut on the 15th of September in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round at Glasgow Rangers in a 2-0 memorable home win over the Scottish side. The Rosario-born player became a fan favourite for his personality, grit, and determination on the pitch.
The Argentine graced Mestalla with a blend of finesse and fighting spirit on the wing. Kily boasts a fine array of success and honours at Valencia CF. One Spanish Super Cup and one LaLiga title in 2002. He helped Valencia CF reach back-to-back Champions League finals.
He had 138 appearances across four seasons netting 14 goals where he was a fixture and produced a fair share of memorable performances that will stay in the fans’ minds for years to come.
Kily had a thorn in his side after that bittersweet ending to his VCF career and returned to Mestalla to delight the Mestalla crowd one last time in the legends game during the club’s Centenary where he displayed his attributes showing that he still had it in him.
